First Fortnight’s creative therapy services employ a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centred, and strengths-based framework. Our approach is bespoke and innovative, and is designed to remain open and reflexive to the evolving needs of those who engage with our services.
We work on the premise that no two people are the same and that no one modality will meet the needs of all. Our therapists are all fully qualified and IACAT accredited and have a wealth of experience working in community and social care settings.
We offer free, person-centered, trauma-informed Creative Arts Therapies, art, music, and drama, focused on underserved populations, especially those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our supportive environment uses creative expression as a pathway for emotional healing and growth.
In this short video, we explain what Creative Arts Therapy is, who it’s for, and what you can expect from the process.
Modalities
Art Therapy
Art therapy utilises painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and crafting. The therapist supports collaboration or independent work, followed by reflective review.
Music Therapy
Music therapy uses musical instruments and elements for expression. Clients may play or listen to music, discuss songs, write music, or play instruments with their therapist.
Drama Therapy
Drama therapy uses drama, role-play, and creative techniques to explore emotions and behaviours, often adapting to client preferences and needs.
