About Us
At First Fortnight our commitment ranges from providing free Creative Therapies to individuals experiencing homelessness or risk of homelessness throughout the year to organising an annual mental health, arts and culture festival in January. Through our work, we aim to utilise arts and culture as powerful tools in addressing mental ill health challenges. Join us in our mission to foster positive change.
Our Vision
A future free of mental health stigma supported through the healing power of the arts.
Our Mission
To harness the power of the arts as a catalyst for change, healing, and community engagement, ensuring that mental health is recognised, discussed, and supported in every corner of society.
Our Values
- We are conversation catalysts.
- We are creative at our core.
- We are change makers.
“Creativity gives people a voice. Our mission is to make sure that voice is heard, supported and valued.”
Our Purpose
To eradicate the stigma associated with mental ill health and provide therapeutic intervention, improving the lives of those suffering with mental health difficulties.
We believe in:
The transformative power of the Arts to open and normalise conversations about mental health and impact change.
It matters because:
The rising prevalence of mental health issues has created an urgent need for effective support systems and open dialogue. Access to the arts whether creating, witnessing, participating in art, or engaging with creative arts therapy is transformative and healing.
First Fortnight is built on a diverse, inclusive team, from core staff to volunteers, united by a shared commitment to celebrating individual differences and fostering creativity across backgrounds and disciplines.
Our festival celebrates the arts as a powerful catalyst for sparking unscripted conversations around mental ill health and serves to challenge the stigma associated with mental ill-health.
From our national arts festival to our year-round Creative Therapies, we create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired. Our impact is measured not just in numbers, but in changed minds, open hearts, and stronger communities.
Working with us means joining a community dedicated to challenging mental health stigma and building a more inclusive, understanding Ireland. We value collaboration, diversity and a shared belief in the healing potential of the arts.
First Fortnight is built on a foundation of strong governance, transparency, and accountability. We are committed to the highest standards of ethical and financial practice, ensuring every decision strengthens our mission and serves the people who rely on our work.
Our work is made possible through the generosity, trust and collaboration of our partners, sponsors and funders. Together we share a belief in the power of creativity to support mental health and build community.
